39: I'm Versailles' Mom

[11:00 AM] spikethe3rd: Versailles waits patiently outside of the Inn, breathing rhythmically, eyes closed.

[11:15 AM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire rushed out the inn door. She wore nicer clothes than her day to day long coat, but nothing too fancy. She also packed a bag of some torn clothes.

[11:15 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Sorry, I made you wait, didn't I?"

[11:17 AM] spikethe3rd: "No, I just wanted to make sure you didn't have to." He stretched his arms. "Though I suppose we're both used to getting up early..."

[11:17 AM] spikethe3rd: "What do you have there?" He pointed to the bag.

[11:19 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Oh, well thank you."she said as she straightened up. "Oh, this bag? I'm packed some torn clothes, so when we start teaching me sewing."

[11:20 AM] spikethe3rd: "Oh yeah, maybe my mom can show you how she does it. She will definitely be a better teacher."

[11:22 AM] spikethe3rd: "Shall we go then?" He offered his hand.

[11:23 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Yes, let's!" she said as she happily grabbed his hand

[11:26 AM] spikethe3rd: Versailles leads them down the street towards the market district. They pass masses of stalls selling many cloths and threads. They finally come to a large store with a sign reading: Zhu Zhung Textiles

[11:27 AM] spikethe3rd: Inside is a multitude of different cloths: Silks and cotton alike, Thick threads and thin sheets.

[11:28 AM] spikethe3rd: Twenty-some people mill around, feeling the fabrics and talking to each other.

[11:29 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Wow." Claire admires the cloths up close. Feeling the texture of some, while admiring he colours and designs of others

[11:31 AM] spikethe3rd: "Here," He pulls her towards the back to a counter with a man standing behind it. He nods at the man and the man nods back, motioning to the door behind him.

[11:33 AM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire follows close behind, looking around curiously

[11:34 AM] spikethe3rd: He leads her through the door to an older woman, about 45 years of age. She has long hair tied in a knot and draping to her back. She wears a colorful Yukata-esque dress that is primarily blue. She does not notice them come in and keeps stitching a very detailed dress.

[11:36 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Uh" she whispers to Versailles. "Is that your mother?"

[11:36 AM] spikethe3rd: He nods.

[11:36 AM] spikethe3rd: "Mother. I'm back"

[11:37 AM] spikethe3rd: She turns around showing her smooth face and blue eyes. Her soft look turns to joy as she walks over and embraces him.

[11:39 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "I'm glad you came back! I've been working on a new robe for you. Its blue and will bring out your eyes. Also you..." She continues to talk about the robe in unnecessary detail using sewing terms that he has no clue about.

[11:43 AM] spikethe3rd: V: "Uh Mom, I have someone I'd like you to meet."

[11:43 AM] spikethe3rd: She steps back M: "Oh?"

[11:43 AM] spikethe3rd: She turns to Claire and looks her up and down.

[11:44 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "U-uh, hello. My name is Claire." she extends her hand

[11:44 AM] spikethe3rd: She ignores the hand and immediately goes for a hug.

[11:45 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "Nice to meet you Claire, I'm Zhu Zhung, but you can call me Chu, It's much cuter don't you think? I'm Versailles mom, although he probably already told you that."

[11:46 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "O-oh!" she exclaims in surprise. "U-uh yes, Chu does sound more endearing."

[11:46 AM] [nootamod] benoot: She's caught off guard and somewhat flustered by Chu's bubbliness

[11:49 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "Now let me look at you." She holds Claire at arms length and moves her hands along Claire's clothes, checking the cloth.

[11:49 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "This is nice, but I don't see many of these."

[11:52 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "Where did you get this." She motion to the jacket.

[11:53 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "This is from my homeland, Nohr. I got it when I graduated as a knight."

[11:56 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "Oh? Nohr? I've heard of it from some travelers." She looks up in thought. "A bit of a cold, rugged place isn't it?"

[11:57 AM] [nootamod] benoot: "Yes, the climate isn't the most comfortable, but you get used to it."

[11:58 AM] spikethe3rd: M: "Well, how is someone as pretty as you a knight?"

[12:00 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I always looked up to my father who is a general, so ever since I was able, I've been training with him."

[12:00 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "And eventually I became a knight."

[12:01 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Oh, that sounds wonderful. But I don't think I could let Versailles fight, I'd be to worried."

[12:02 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Don't worry about that mom. I'm not planning on enlisting."

[12:03 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Heh, he worries about me all the time too" she laughed a bit

[12:04 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles blushes sllightly.

[12:05 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Oh he worries about everyone, always trying to help out." she pats his playfully. V: "Well yeah..." he looks away in embarrassment.

[12:09 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Well with the introductions done, is there anything I can do for you?"

[12:09 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Yeah, I was wondering if you could show Claire how you sew, she wants to learn."

[12:10 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Why can't you show her? I taught you how. You didn't neglect to practice did you?" She scolds him

[12:10 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "N-no I just wanted to let her learn from a pro."

[12:12 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "If its a bother for you, I could ask Versailles, but he did say I would learn better from you"

[12:13 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "No no! I'd love to. Maybe Versailles can learn something too." She glares disapprovingly at him.

[12:14 PM] spikethe3rd: She walks over to her work table and motions them to another table with chairs. She picks up a small toolbox and walks over.

[12:14 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire sits and pulls out her bag

[12:16 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Do you need a needle?"

[12:17 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Yes please."

[12:18 PM] spikethe3rd: She hands them both needles and looking at Claire's bag, an assortment of threads to match the colors of her cloth.

[12:19 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Okay! To start, you must thread the needle carefully."

[12:20 PM] spikethe3rd: She threads the needle flawlessly, barely looking at it.

[12:20 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Right." Claire focuses hard on the needle, trying to bring the thread into it

[12:21 PM] [nootamod] benoot: After some struggle, she manages

[12:21 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles licks his thread and slowly threads it.

[12:22 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Now we must tie it off." She quickly ties an overhand knot.(edited)

[12:23 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire fumbles with the needle a bit, and ties a crude knot

[12:23 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles with some difficulty manages to tie it.

[12:24 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Okay, now the fun part! You stick the needle through the cloth and pull it all the way through. Measure and cut the thread to the length you want."

[12:24 PM] spikethe3rd: She pulls the thread and snips it with a nearby scissors.

[12:26 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire reaches in her bag and grabs an old and ripped tshirt

[12:26 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She grabs a pair of scissors and cuts the thread

[12:28 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Now you push the needle back through near the first hole and tie another knot."

[12:31 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She pushes the needle through near one of the tears. She slowly follows the directions

[12:31 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Then you try to make close stitches across the hole and tighten the thread across the gap."

[12:32 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire begins making the stiches. Occasionally pricking herdelf

[12:33 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Here," She offers a thimble to Claire.

[12:35 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Oh, no thank you." she politly declined. "I barely even feel the needle."

[12:36 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu shrugs and keeps working on her own piece.

[12:38 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "So how long have you run this shop?"

[12:39 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "For about a year and a half, but I owned another one for about 20 years."

[12:40 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I see." remembering their family's past, she stays quiet as she continues to stitch(edited)

[12:42 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu finishes, holding up the piece. The stitching is barely visible due to the matching color and small strokes.

[12:43 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles holds his up as well.

[12:44 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Your strokes are too wide, they need to be tight." She scolds.

[12:45 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire lifts up her piece, which in turn, lifted up her shirt

[12:45 PM] [nootamod] benoot: After a brief moment, she quickly puts it back down

[12:45 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles flushes red. Chu just giggles.

[12:47 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Looking at her shirt, she's managed to stitch it to her piece. She looks up at Chu, her face completely red. "So...how do I fix this?

[12:48 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu giggles again.

[12:48 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Here," she snips the thread with the scissors.

[12:50 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She slowly unbinds her shirt from her piece. Facing down, she looks a bit. "You, didn't see too much, right?"

[12:51 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Dear, don't be embarrassed, were both women."

[12:51 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles is dying of embarrassment.

[12:54 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Well, I was also asking him..."

[12:54 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She nods slightly at the monk

[12:54 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles responds by covering his face.

[1:00 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "O-oh. Uh, alright." She said as she set down her piece and fixed her shirt

[1:01 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu walks off. Versailles looks at Claire.

[1:02 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Are you alright?" she gets up and moves close

[1:03 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Yeah, I just... You're so beautiful."

[1:04 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Oh stop it!" she said in a hushed yell. "I'm gonna get embarrassed!"

[1:04 PM] spikethe3rd: He leans over and nuzzles against her neck.

[1:04 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "I love you." he whispers.

[1:07 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Her face turned bright red in an instant.

[1:07 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Wh-what are you doing!? Your mother can come back at any second!"

[1:11 PM] spikethe3rd: He backs off. V: "Sorry... I just..." He turns red again(edited)

[1:12 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "No, it's ok... I just get embarrassed easily when it comes to, well, you know..."

[1:13 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu walks back into the room carrying a tray with cups and a steaming pot.

[1:15 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Really Sai, you're still embarrassed?"

[1:16 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire backs up from Versailles as soon as Chu could be heard

[1:17 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu smiles at Claire. M: "Sorry about him, he isn't normally this shy. I guess he's embarrassed by his mother."

[1:17 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "more importantly, how do you like your tea?"

[1:18 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She begins walking back to her seat

[1:18 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I usually put a teaspoon of sugar"

[1:19 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu puts the tray down on the table and starts pouring it out.

[1:20 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Sai, you still like three sugars?"

[1:20 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles nods, returning to his seat.

[1:27 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu put out three saucers and cups on top.

[1:29 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Enjoy." She smiles at them both.

[1:29 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Thanks." He sits down and sips his tea calmly.

[1:30 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Thank you." she said as she carefully took the cup and saucer.

[1:30 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She blows on the tea to cool it a bit, and then she takes a small sip

[1:33 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu takes a sip of her own.

[1:34 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "So Claire, how has Amaterasu been? Have you made new friends?"

[1:36 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Oh it's been lovely! I've made many friends ever since I came here."

[1:38 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "That's good to hear. A girl as nice as you must have men begging for your attention."

[1:39 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Heh, not exactly..." she said, slightly blushing."

[1:40 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles spits a little and starts coughing.

[1:40 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Whats wrong dear?"

[1:41 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles shakes his head as he covers his coughs with his sleeve.

[1:43 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu shrugs at Versailles. M: "I can't believe that someone as pretty and sweet as you hasn't been approached by droves." she shakes her head.

[1:43 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Well...." she glances at Versailles.

[1:44 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles looks back raising an eyebrow that said 'want to do this?'

[1:44 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She nods

[1:45 PM] [nootamod] benoot: But as she did, her face started to blush more and more

[1:45 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu looks confusedly at them both.

[1:45 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "what is it?"

[1:46 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Well, it's just that..." Versailles trailed off in embarrassment.

[1:47 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire sheepishly rubs the back of her neck

[1:48 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I wouldn't say droves of men... Maybe just one..."

[1:49 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Oh? How was he? Was he nice?"

[1:50 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles moves his hand over to Claire's under the table and squeezes it.

[1:53 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Well, I, I don't know how to say this..."

[1:53 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Her face red as can be

[1:54 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "He must have been pretty great if you can't talk about him."

[1:55 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles coughed for her attention.

[1:55 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "What is it Sai?"

[1:56 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles slowly lifted his and Claire's hands onto the table.

[1:57 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu looked at their hands together, then at Versailles, then at Claire. She repeated this and stopped at Claire.

[1:57 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Oh my..."

[1:58 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu stood up.

[1:58 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Like, godamn, Claire's face is red

[1:58 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu walks over and hugs them both.

[2:00 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "I'm so happy for you both." she sniffs

[2:00 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Th-thank you" she said as she hugged back

[2:01 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "So when are you getting married?"

[2:02 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Mom!"

[2:03 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "!!!"

[2:04 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Isn't it a little early to say that!"

[2:04 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Well how long has this been going on?"

[2:04 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu releases her grip and sits back down to her tea.

[2:04 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Come on, I want to hear it all."

[2:05 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire is long gone, her face feels as hot as the kettle

[2:07 PM] spikethe3rd: V: " Well we met the day I visited you. I bumped into her and we decided to eat together." He paused remembering what happened after.

[2:07 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire also remembered that, and became even more embarrassed. As if it even was possible at this point

[2:10 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Then uh... I helped her find her Inn. We spent more time together and just yesterday we figured out we had mutual feelings."

[2:10 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire nods in agreement

[2:12 PM] [nootamod] benoot: She didn't want to include any details from her end, she would die from embarrassment

[2:12 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Well thats a cute story." She smiled.

[2:15 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "Th-thank you." she said, not really paying attention to what she said

[2:16 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu shakes with excitement. M: "I've always wanted a daughter to spoil, Versailles never wanted to wear my dresses." she pouted.

[2:18 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Of course not!"

[2:19 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire giggles at the thought of Versailles wearing a frilly dress

[2:22 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu pulls Claire out of her chair. M: "Come on, lets get you measured!" She pulls her to a booth and grabs a tape measure. She snaps at a worker with a writing board and he walks over.

[2:23 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire is indeed pulled by Chu

[2:23 PM] spikethe3rd: She wraps the tape tightly around Claire and starts saying numbers and body parts

[2:27 PM] spikethe3rd: The man furiously writes down everything and hands her the board when she walks out. M: "Alright Claire, come back tomorrow to get it fitted."

[2:27 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "And you'd better treat her well!" She yells at Versailles.

[2:30 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "O-of course."

[2:39 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles walked out, holding Claires coat and bag. He grabbed her hand and led her out.

[2:40 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire left with Versailles, her cheeks slowly turning back to its normal colour

[2:40 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "She's, quite the delightful person "

[2:41 PM] spikethe3rd: "Uh... yeah"

[2:42 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "But I feel glad, your mother seemed so happy when we told her.v

[2:43 PM] spikethe3rd: "Yeah, I'm sure she just want us to be happy."

[2:44 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I wonder how my parents would react when we tell them.."

[2:45 PM] spikethe3rd: "Uh... Aren't they in Nohr? We have plenty of time to think of how to tell them."(edited)

[2:49 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles squeezes her hand. "It'll be fine, we can work on being calm when we're married."

[2:49 PM] spikethe3rd: He freezes.

[2:49 PM] spikethe3rd: He flushes red. "Sorry, I didn't..."

[2:50 PM] [nootamod] benoot: Claire's face goes red again at the thought of marriage.

[2:50 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I, well, I wouldn't be against it... But, wouldn't it be still be really early? I'm not even 20 yet!"

[2:53 PM] spikethe3rd: "Yeah, I just know that I love you so much. But I can wait."

[2:55 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "I love you too. I, it's just that there's going to be so much to sort out, and to prepare. And to plan for..."

[2:59 PM] [nootamod] benoot: "But, if you're willing to wait, we'll have to do our best, right?"

[3:00 PM] spikethe3rd: "Yes." He nods, squeezing her hand.

[4:50 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles waits outside the Inn as usual, but is much calmer this time. He is relaxed and sits patiently.

[4:54 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: Claire exit the inn, wearing pretty plain clothes, as they were going to pick up some clothes from Chu.

[4:55 PM] spikethe3rd: "Hello! Ready for the festivities tonight?"

[4:55 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "Yep! We were gonna drop by your mom's before we went, right?"

[4:56 PM] spikethe3rd: "Yeah, she made a dress for you. I think she also made me a robe."

[4:58 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "Heh, she's probably waiting, we should hurry over."

[5:00 PM] spikethe3rd: "Good idea." He offers his hand to her.

[5:00 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: Claire grabs it and the two make their way

[5:03 PM] spikethe3rd: As they walk in, they see the store is closed for the festivities. Only one worker remains. When he sees them he calls into the backroom and Chu comes out.

[5:03 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Come see my work!" She vigorously waves them to the backroom.

[5:05 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: Claire looks to versailles, and begins walking to the bac

[5:08 PM] spikethe3rd: Chu waves them in and before them is a very ornate pair of Yukata. Claire's is blue with pink cherry blossoms across it and a dark blue belt. Versailles is the same Blue but instead has red stripes.

[5:10 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "Wow." Claire looks at the yukatas in awe

[5:10 PM] spikethe3rd: The almost-tapestry quality is surprising given the turnaround time.

[5:12 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Um... thank you mom."

[5:12 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Quick, we have to fit them so you can go to the festival."

[5:13 PM] spikethe3rd: She pushes Claire and him into separate stalls, and she helps Claire put hers on. The worker goes into Versailles's stall and assists him.

[5:19 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: After a bit, Claire steps out of the stall, donning the specially made yukata

[5:21 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles steps out feeling his chest.

[5:21 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Is it supposed to be this tight?"

[5:21 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "It feels fine for me."

[5:21 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Yes."

[5:22 PM] spikethe3rd: M: "Now, go ahead, you can come back for your other things later."

[5:23 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles almost trips as he gets used to the little leg freedom.

[5:24 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "You alright?" Claire walks by his side

[5:24 PM] spikethe3rd: V: "Yeah, just getting used to it."

[5:25 PM] spikethe3rd: They step out into the street and see the crowds amassing the square.

[5:27 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "Shall w-?" she was asking as she turned to face him, when she stopped speaking and started to just stare

[5:28 PM] spikethe3rd: "What is it?" He looks back at her.

[5:29 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "N-nothing.." she turns away and sticks to his side

[5:30 PM] spikethe3rd: He pulls her close. "Come on." He smiles

[5:31 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "It's, you look handsome in that."

[5:31 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "N-not saying you don't already..."

[5:32 PM] spikethe3rd: "Haha, you are beautiful as well. The Yukata only makes your beauty stand out more." He smiles pulling her forward.

[5:35 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: Claire hides her face in Versailles side

[5:35 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: Emitting an embarrassed sound

[5:37 PM] spikethe3rd: Versailles keeps moving them to the crowd, holding Claire close.

[5:39 PM] spikethe3rd: They finally make it to the main square and a sea of people stand before them.

[5:41 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "So many people..."Claire looks around, people as far as the eye can see, and they were all smiling, laughing, and having good time

[5:44 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "Where do you want to go?" she looked up at him

[5:45 PM] spikethe3rd: "Maybe get some food?"

[5:46 PM] [dick] gumshoe-money: "How about over there?" she points at a dumpling stand. "I've seen that stand, but I never got a chance to try anything from it yet."

[5:47 PM] spikethe3rd: "Sure!" They walk over.
