[AG3] Far Off the Target

Featuring: Kalenzo, Bedivere

February 3, 2017
[1:01 PM] ColdToiletSeat: Walking away from the smithy, Kalenzo held the Curtain Call in his hand. Extending his arm outward, he gave the shortbow a proper examination. It had certainly come a long way ever since he had happened upon it in the Tesamaaru storage all that time ago. Something about it's simple form and subtle features had just delighted the artist, and now that it had been adorned with a gem that could supposedly unlock some of it's hidden potential, he'd be a fool to not give it a few tests. Instead of hanging the weapon on his shoulder as he usually did, the man chose to keep it in his hand, eagerness showing in his expression as he walked towards the training grounds he had used once more. Upon finally reaching the targets, Kalenzo unslung his small pack before withdrawing his quiver and casting the satchel aside. Quickly nocking an arrow, a smirk crossed the man's expression as his eyes locked on the target and he took aim...(edited)
[1:12 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: As the archer prepares to shoot at his target, Bedivere walks in behind him, carrying a bizarre lance, crackling with electricity over his shoulder. Recognizing the man in front of him as the one he fought in the tournament, he cheerily shouts over to him in greeting. "Oh, hello there!"
[1:21 PM] ColdToiletSeat: As the man had let go of his bowstring, the suddenly bright interjection from the cavalier tampered with his focus. His body seized and froze in that position as he let out a sudden "Gah!" before letting go of the bowstring, having the arrow fly incredibly off-course and embedding itself in the ground about a meter or two away from the target. As he recovered from the initial shock of the surprise, Kalenzo turned his head to meet his guest with a bit of a glare. "...Hello there."(edited)
[1:44 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere looks over to the arrow, a little confusedly, before realizing his greeting coming out of the blue may have interrupted Kalenzo's archery somewhat. He places his hand over his heart, showing a sincerity in his words. "Oh, um, I'm sorry if I distracted you." He squirms a little under Kalenzo's hardened expression, but says nothing more.
[1:53 PM] ColdToiletSeat: The man continued to send a glare towards the cavalier as he apologized, narrowing them even more for effect before closing them, shaking his head a little and letting out a sigh. The young man seemed genuine enough, it was only a simple misunderstanding, right? Oh how he'd heard those words many times before... "It's fine." Kalenzo responded, standing himself up straight and staring down Bedivere before starting to walk over and pick up his arrow-gone-astray. "So, how can I help you? Or are you just here to train as well?"
[2:03 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere shrinks a little after he narrows his eyes, slightly intimidated. He nods, and brandishes the lance. "The latter! I'm here for a safe-ish place to try out using...this thing. Shopkeeper called it a "Thunder Spear," and it's apparently a lance that can strike from a distance with lightning. I'd test it outside, but I'm afraid of setting some vegetation alight or something."(edited)
[2:12 PM] ColdToiletSeat: "I see..." Kalenzo nodded, leaning down to quickly yank his arrow out from the ground that held it. Turning back around, he looked at Bedivere once more, this time his stare lacking the previous anger behind it. As he drew closer to the younger male, intrigue filled the bowman's expression, evident from the furrowed brow and pursed lips. "Well, this would be the right place to do it." The artist commented, brushing most of the dirt off of his arrow before nocking it and tilting his head. "Say... Do we know each other?"(edited)
[2:21 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: The cavalier nods, and stands up straight again, less uncomfortable in the man's presence now. "We have met, correct. I was your opponent in the first match of the tournament!" He takes a few steps toward Kalenzo, and extends a hand, deliberately skipping over the fact he lost. "The name's Bedivere Leifsson, but... most just call me Bedi."
[2:38 PM] ColdToiletSeat: A look of surprise lightens up the man's face at the reminder. "Oh! I remember now!" He spoke up, remembering the match and the tourney in and of itself. "And I almost would've won it too if it weren't for that flea-ridden furball..." "Regardless of that... It's nice meeting you, Bedivere." The artist spoke, giving the cavalier a small bow before reciprocating his gesture. "My name is Kalenzo. Err- Kalenzo Marr if we're including surnames in this affair, hehe xd..."
[2:54 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: ...flea ridden furball? Well, he doesn't sound... hugely keen on beastkin...but maybe I'm just overthinking it. "Well, surnames aren't hugely important. It's not as though I'll go around referring to you as "Kalenzo Marr," is it? I just say mine out of...politeness, I suppose." He retracts his hand, placing it back onto the lance, a few harmless sparks flying at the contact. "You are quite the impressive fighter, for what it's worth, Kalenzo! I'd like to think I'm a fairly difficult opponent to defeat, and you..." He smiles sheepishly, rubbing at his neck. "...frankly, wiped the floor with me, haha!"
[3:09 PM] ColdToiletSeat: "Oh stop, you're flattering me~" Kalenzo responded, waving dismissively towards his previous opponent as he looked away bashfully at the comment. Letting his smile last for a moment, he cleared his throat, taking on his usual cool and collected visage before making eyecontact with the cavalier once more. "Don't go discrediting yourself now, you certainly show promise." He commented, taking the arrow off of his bowstring and sheathing it away before gesturing towards the younger lad with his now free hand.
[3:19 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere smiles a little wider, feeling rather complimented after Kalenzo's encouragement. "Mm, perhaps. And in fairness to me, not that I'm trying to make excuses, mind you, I had barely gotten any training in for weeks before our spar, so I was--and still am--a little...rusty."
[3:30 PM] ColdToiletSeat: "Hm, I see." Kalenzo nodded, taking his free hand and tapping his chin before giving his strubble a subconscious stroke. "Well then, I suppose that's another reason for you to be here of all places, eh?" The man gave a short laugh before shaking his head all the same. "Ah yes, I understand that complacency dulls the sharp mind. I suppose I should leave you to your training then."
[3:37 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere looks at him oddly, somewhat surprised by his sudden desire to leave. Perhaps he was just worried about getting zapped if he was in the vicinity? "Well, if you're finished, I suppose so. But don't feel pressured to leave on my account." He takes a few steps forward, and holds the lance up, contemplating how exactly to channel its power.
[3:43 PM] ColdToiletSeat: "Oh, well alright then," Kalenzo shrugged, drawing another arrow and walking towards a different target, taking care to avoid the possibly hazardous situation of getting shock-sticked by an ally no less. Nocking the arrow, the man focused once more, staring at his new target for a solid minute, analyzing and visualizing his shot before finally taking aim.(edited)
[4:06 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: While Kalenzo studies his target, Bedivere across the room does just the same, though rather than studying the shot, he simply...focuses. The cavalier clears his mind of as much thought as possible, and regulates his breathing...anything to have as little emotion as he can while using the magical weapon. He lifts it dramatically, and points it towards the target around when Kalenzo takes aim. Hmm...how do I...know where it'll go? With an arrow, it's going to follow a trajectory based on pulling the string of the bow, you can predict where it'll land...roughly, at least, but this is just..."lightning." I suppose...I wonder. To an observer, the cavalier appears to simply be standing still, pointing towards the target as he thinks.
[4:52 PM] ColdToiletSeat: Staring down the length of his arrow, the bowman held steady, smirking somewhat as the haunted gem enchanting his weapon gave off a faint glow. This power, this +2 might, he could feel it as soon as when he had pulled back the bowstring. As Kalenzo let go, letting the arrow fly and whiz through the air until it hit it's mark, he took note of how the bow had left a tingling feeling going up his arm. That's... certainly something... The artist thought, straightening his back and taking his bow into both of his hands. A bit worrisome, but with my expertise, I'll be able to make it work. Walking over to the freshly shot target, Kalenzo noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Bedivere, standing there and pointing his lance towards the target he had planned on attacking. He felt the need to say something and point out all of the obvious faults in what the cavalier was doing. But he decided against it, he didn't really know or understand how those silly magic weapons worked. Regardless, the man's job was done, might as well watch what the new guy had to offer.
[5:04 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere takes one last breath, and raises the lance a little higher, keeping himself fully focused on the target all the while. With a quiet groan of effort, the cavalier channels his power into the lance, unleashing a large burst of golden electricity near the target, together with a dangerous rushing noise. It is fairly inaccurate, and the attack's center is quite far off the target, but the size of the jolt allows it to still scorch its edge black, the target hissing loudly afterward. "...not great, but...could be worse for a first attempt, I suppose."(edited)
[5:10 PM] ColdToiletSeat: Hmph, how fascinating... He's not bad but he could definitely use some work on his aim. Kalenzo thought, silently judging the magic-wielding cavalier as he walked over towards his satchel previously cast aside. Picking it up, he closed his quiver, attaching it back onto his shoulder-bag. With a final nod to Bedivere, the artist made his way out of the area. "Best of luck in your training, Bedivere. You'll need it for what you'll be facing in Intetsu..."
[5:20 PM] JD | Level 2 JD: Bedivere nods, and goes out of his calm state somewhat to give Kalenzo a cheery wave. "Thank you, Kalenzo. Bye." ...Intetsu...so they know where their next battle will be, huh. I should get round to finding someone...authoritative, to discuss what exactly is going on around here sometime soon... He raises his lance again, takes a breath in, and repeats his previous actions. ==END RP==
