[1:12 PM] Marimalade: Murmuring came from the polished wooden halls of the inn. It was around mid-day, most people having already finished lunch and had gone back to chores and work, leaving the upper floor fairly empty. Anyone left lazing about their rooms likely wouldn't hear anything but the faint sound of someone speaking to themselves; but those with better hearing might pick out more.
"...this one, right? Room seven?"
"..opefully haven't missed them."
Three soft knocks resonated from the door of one of the rooms, the voices fading into silence as they waited for a response.
[1:43 PM] Crystal Skies: wuh... what? Is it him again? I would rather not deal with him again now...
The fox-maid lying half asleep in her bed on the inn room slowly turned over, almost falling out of the small bed in the room. The gaping wound on her stomach had closed, leaving behind a scar, but thankfully nothing severe. She pushed herself up, uttering a lazy yawn before turning her attention to the door.
"Whoooo iiiiiis iiiiiit....."
[1:59 PM] Marimalade: There was a moment of silence before a voice called back,
"We're from the fight at the pub the other day. We came by to show our thanks, if we're not coming at a time that's bothering you?"
It was bright and feminine, not holding any of the hostility expected from someone who might've been on the losing side of said fight.
[2:41 PM] Crystal Skies: "Ummm....... I dont knooow who that is thooooough..."
She got up properly, briefly taking better note of the room around her, before turning her attention to the door, expecting their reply
[2:46 PM] Marimalade: Another moment of silence followed the response, before the voice picked up again.. but it sounded slightly different? A touch more calm and refined.
"We are Emilia and Amelia Ecclenza, envoys from Concordia. Not that we would expect our names to help."(edited)
[3:04 PM] Crystal Skies: "Oh.... "
I still don't know who that is...
"Come in i guess...."
She lazily hubbled over to the door, opening it before returning back to sitting in her bed.
[3:44 PM] Marimalade: Two possibly familiar faces stood in the doorway, each a perfect replica of the other. They smiled as the door opened, giving a small bow before stepping into the room. The one on the left from the fox's point of view held a large bouqet of green and yellow flowers. She wore her hair in a single long ponytail, compared to her partner, who's hair was free to flow as it pleased down her back and over her shoulders.
The other held a white box in her hands, tied simply ith a lavender ribbon. It was them who spoke up first after the room's owner sat back down,
"Thank you for allowing us in. Again, I am Emilia, and this is my sister, Amelia. We fought along-side you in the battle th eother day, and you aided us in what would've been a very unfavorable situation otherwise."
Amelia, as she was introduced, gave a smile as Emilia finished speaking, though her eyes held on the fox-woman's bandages for a moment.
"We came to give a gift of thanks, and.. it seems like we need to apologize for not being there for you as you were for us."
[5:18 PM] Crystal Skies: "Oh..... Youuuu twoo...... Its ookay I guess..."
She looks down, back onto the place where the arrow was lodged last battle. Truly one of her more dissapointing moments.
And along he came to save me....
She gave them a weak smile, before continuing.
"I got heeeelp from a friend......."
[2:36 PM] Marimalade: "We're happy to hear that. It's good to see you're not bedridden." Amelia said, Emilia nodding in turn. The two moved to a small table, setting down the flowers and the box. Amelia's hans rested on the brim of the table a moment, before she spun, continuing. "We do have another reason for introducing ourselves to you, though thanking you was the reason we wanted to find you first."
Emilia nodded again, picking up where her sister left off. "We had wanted to make sure we had the right room before explaining. As we said before, we are envoys, but a better word for our role would be 'escorts'. We wil be joining your group as guides until we reach Concordia, and thought it best to introduce ourselves to her Highness' group."(edited)
[2:59 PM] Crystal Skies: "Oh.... Yeah.. I work for Luuuumaa."
[3:03 PM] Crystal Skies: Her head turned, staring at the box the two had left at the table. It wasn't huge, but it still kept her attention until she returned it to the twins, her hair falling into her eyes once she turned her head. She yawned, mustering up the energy to properly sit, with her tail lazily dangling off the side of the bed, the tip still having a small red spot after the other day
[3:05 PM] Crystal Skies: "So........ Haaave you meeeet Luuumaa?"
[7:28 PM] Marimalade: Amelia tilted her head, smiling faintly through a perplexed expression. "Luma..? Ah, we have! It was an honor to speak with the queen of Freyzenwald." Amelia responded, her expression matching her enthusiastic words. "Would I have been able to meet both princesses, I would be blessed beyond belief. But I think being able to be the guide for even one of them is good enough."
Emilia smiled, shaking her head at her sister's enthusiasm before looking up to the room's owner.
"Pardon us, but may we have your name? Ah, and we can make our way out if you wish, we don't want to interrupt your rest."(edited)
[4:36 AM] Crystal Skies: "Nooo....... Its fiiiine. Im Auuriel....."
She subconsciously scratched the bandages, causing a small rift in the bandages wrapped around her stomach. She eyed the twins curiously, becoming more conscious of their eerie similarities, to the point where she questioned if she was seeing double.
"Heh..... you twoooo remind meee oof my oooown family......"(edited)
[5:53 AM] Marimalade: The two blinked in surprise, looking at each other in synch, then each chuckling lightly. Emilia eyed the bandages for a moment, before locking her eyes back on to Auriel's. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Auriel."
"Likewise! Got to say, though, that's not something we hear often." Amelia chimed in after her sister, gaining a nod from Emilia. The ponytailed twin tilted her head curiously, looking over Auriel as she questioned the fox woman, "Does that mean you've got a sibling too?"
[4:04 PM] Crystal Skies: "Umm..... Does that include both living and deeeaaaad?"
She seemed completely unfazed mentioning her dead siblings, that there likely were a multitude of. Even she did not know the total numbers, but there were likely more dead that living at this point.
[3:19 AM] Marimalade: The siblings both went quiet a moment, looking between each other with concern. They reached for each other's hands, gently grasping the other's as they looked back to Auriel.
"Ahm.. Sorry to bring it up.."
"We're.. sorry for your loss."
While Auriel remained unfazed, the twins certainly did not at the idea of lost family, their discomfort read easily through their expressions. Amelia attempted to hide it behind a smile, speaking up after a moment of silence.
"I-I mean, it does, though! We want to learn about the people we'll be working with, after all.."
Emilia nodded her agreement.
[4:18 AM] Crystal Skies: "Umm.... Its fiiiiine.... I only knew like 2 or soo of them....... I think that I had....6 when I left hoooome? Mayybe one or two still live..."
She placed a finger on her chin, tilting her head like she usually did when thinking. She still remembered Illithariel and Malthael, the brother and sister who were born after her and as such did not have to follow in her footsteps.
"Its fiine....I don't miss peeeople I don't know.."
[12:19 PM] Marimalade: "I.. suppose that makes sense.." Emilia took a moment to consider Auriel's words. "If they left home, or.. Passed away, before you met them, then.." She nibbled on the corner of her bottom lip, brows furrowed in thought. But then she shook it all away, bringing up a smile like her sister's. "We're sorry if our reactions were a bit insensitive, your answer simply caught us off-guard."
[10:02 AM] Crystal Skies: "Naaah.... Its fiiiiine.... They are probably fiiiine.... wherever they are."
Showing suprising amounts of insensitivity for the possible loss of multiple of her clan, she turned her attention to the box, and the wrapping around it. At that point in time, she really did not care about anything but what was inside it. "Umm.... Can I haaaaave it?"

[12:02 AM] Marimalade: Amelia blinked a moment, looking over to the small gift and quickly jumping at the chance to switch to a more light-hearted subject.
"Ah, sure!" She said, leaving her sister's side to carefully pick the package up with both hands, before bringing it over to the fox. She gave a small shrug of her shoulders as she held it out to Auriel. "We weren't sure what you'd like, so we hope that it's okay."
Now that it was a bit closer, a sweet aroma swept under Auriel's nose from the box.
[11:16 PM] Crystal Skies: "Hmmmmm? It smells straaaaange...." She slowly tried to unwrap it, but stopped caring after a short while, and simply ripped it apart instead.
[8:06 AM] Marimalade: Inside the box, somehow still pristine after the ripping, was a wonderfully decorated cake, with white frosting and a crown of deep red strawberries. A fork and knife had even been packaged with it, though they fell to the ground with all the ripping.
After the initial shock of Auriel's methods to open the box, Amelia stifled a laugh, lookin to her sister for a moment, then back down to the fox.
[8:10 AM] Marimalade: "We found a pastry shop in town when we first arrived, and thought it might make a better gift than something that you may never use."
[9:55 AM] Crystal Skies: "Woooooow..... Heheheheh, can i haaaave it for myseeelf?"
Her grin widened exponentially, even though she had never tasted anything like it before.
[10:07 AM] Marimalade: "Of course!" The two chimed, the air of the room changing to a happier tune as the two saw Auriel's excitement.
"The sooner you eat, the better it tastes! The cake we had when we went was wonderful~" Amelia reminisced, weaving her ingers together with a happy sigh at the memory.
[12:27 PM] Crystal Skies: "Heh.... You twooo want soooome?"
She placed the box next to her, making some sitting room on the side of the bed in case the twins wanted to sit there. She still occupied most of the bed though. Because she is greedy.
[8:28 PM] Marimalade: "Thank you for the offer, but don't feel required." Emilia responded, bwing her head slightly.
"Yeah! You might regret offering after you taste it, after all. Ty some first, then decide if you want to share." Amelia added with a short laugh.
The two did take a seat on the bed after a moment, neither complaining about Auriel taking up so much space. Though Amelia's eyes would occasionally dart down curiously towards Auiel's tail, before going back up to face-level.
[12:49 PM] Crystal Skies: Seeing Amelia take short looks at her tail gave her an idea to mess with the two siblings.... but then again, she just got cake from them. Who could do something like that after cake?
"Huuuh? My taaaaail?" She said as she pulled the package towards her
[1:19 PM] Marimalade: Amelia blinked, raising her hands up with a laugh as she was caught. "Ah, sorry! We just don't see that many Kitsune, and . . ." She trailed off, causing her sister to laugh.
"Sorry, we're a bit fascinated by new things.." Emilia glanced down to the tail for a moment. "Your fur looks very soft, do you use anything for it?"
[1:26 PM] Crystal Skies: "Uhh..... Maybeeee? It just sortaaaa.... becomes like that after i taaake baths...... Kinda like youuur haaaair I guess..."
[1:27 PM] Crystal Skies: She twirled one of the short locks of hair around her index finger, then comparing it to the feel of moving her palm across her tail. It felt different. REALLY different
[1:27 PM] Crystal Skies: "Huh...... Never noticed thaaaat.... Straaaange.."
[1:45 PM] Marimalade: The two blinked at each other, then looked back to Auriel with paired expressions of envy.
"Aaah! That has to be cheating!"
"It takes around an hour just for us to wash each other's hair..."
The two stared down to where their hair spilled off the edge of the bed, sharing a sigh.
"Why couldn't Mother have been a Kitsune?" Amelia pouted.
"It's okay, we'll get through this together, Ami." Emilia reassured her twin, rapping her in a hug.(edited)
[1:59 PM] Crystal Skies: "But uh...... Bathing is haaaard..... especially dryiiiing....... Soooo It isnt eeeeaaasy..."
Auriel tried to sandbag her Kitsune privilege.... Even though it was obvious she didnt try really hard with the tone of her voice. Nonetheless, she continued.
"Alsoooo, if you step on it it huuuurts...... That isnt fuuuuun...."
[2:37 PM] Marimalade: The two stared at Auriel as they clung to each other, listening curiously to her explanation of Kitsune Downsides. A moment later, and they were both laughing again.
"Ah, we understand your pain in both of those respects."
"The kids love to pull at our hair, especially when I have mine in a ponytail.." Amelia lamented with a slight cringe at the thought.
"And stepping out of bed can be... A painful experience."
[2:42 PM] Marimalade: The two went slent for a bit, lamenting the many pains of long hair, before Amelia piped up again.
"If you don't mind me asking, what got you into Queen Luna's group? are you a part of the Freyzenese military, or a mercenary?"(edited)
[3:09 PM] Crystal Skies: "I am Luuumaaa's retainer! We are beeeest frieeends....."
She had a prideful tone in her voice, contrasting with her otherwise dull tone and voice. She must have felt quite prideful to have gotten her status.... no matter what methods were used
[3:28 PM] Marimalade: "Really?" Amelia responded, bewlidered. "She seemed dismissive of the role when we had talked to her." She giggled.
"She does seem to be one of those types, though."
"Ah, agreed. Well, it's definitely good to see that she's in good hands, at least." Amelia nodded to Auriel with a grin. "Ah, but we should probably let you get back to resting, huh?"
Emilia nodded her agreement, "We should give you some space before we talk your ear off. There are others to meet, as well."
[3:42 PM] Crystal Skies: "Awww..... Okayyy then...."
She laid back, dragging the cake box with her
"Umm..... See youuuu laaater.... Amiii and Emiiii....."
[3:54 PM] Marimalade: The two looked a bit sad at Auriel's disappointment, but still lifted themselves off the bed, turning to give a bow to the kitsune once they were up.
"We'll see you soon, I'm sure! We're on the same team now, after all."
"Indeed. It was lovely to meet you, Auriel. We hope the rest of your evening goes well."
And with that, the two quietly left the room with a small click of the door.
