49.0.3: Whispering to the Scroll

Featuring: Sula, Regie

August 15, 2016
[3:54 PM] Kwakamole: "Re-ji!" Seeing the little witch fall and the bubbles fade, Sula dismounts in a rush, but keeps his distance. "Do you need healing?!"(edited)
[3:55 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She's muttering something, a certain familiar foal comes over and licks at her
[3:57 PM] Kwakamole: Leaning back on his heels, Sula lets out a low hum. He turns back, and starts guiding the exhausted Shimi to her usual stall.
[3:58 PM] DiurnalKnight!: Regie sits up and hugs the foal to help herself calm down
[4:04 PM] Kwakamole: Grateful for Este's support, the Dwabi sits cross-legged, facing away from them, and ponders which of his gods to thank for their mercy. "La-Ha Este, O Pelo." He repeats the chant eight times, honoring the Great Ocean while giving Regie time to recover.(edited)
[4:05 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She pets Este and whispers things to him, eventually calming down
[4:07 PM] Kwakamole: Sula moves on to a serene drone for several seconds, then simply waits in silence.
[4:08 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "c-can i go now..."
[4:10 PM] Kwakamole: "...of course. But...if you have time for some work in the forge..." Sula's head bowed down. "...I wonder if my weapon is broken."
[4:11 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "what do y-you mean..?"
[4:15 PM] Kwakamole: "The Ox Spirit." Sula twirls around his unorthodox roll of rune-covered leather with its red cord, and tosses it behind himself into the dirt in front of her. "It is...weak, and slow, now. It does not go where I wish."
[5:42 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "oh... can i s-see it?"
[5:45 PM] Kwakamole: "Of course." Sula rises to his feet, checking Shimi's coat to be sure nothing happened to her.(edited)
[6:04 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "um... could you n-nudge it a bit closer..?" She doesn't seem to want to stop hugging Este(edited)
[6:20 PM] Kwakamole: "..uu?" Sula's head turns back, noticing them. "Ah, forgive me." He smoothly walks heel to toe, heel to toe, so as not to disturb either of them. Kneeling down, he takes the leather scroll in his left hand, extending it slowly and fluidly.(edited)
[6:22 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She warily takes it "thank you..."
[6:28 PM] Kwakamole: "You are the one helping me, ha ha..." Sula backs away, a blank expression masking his concern about what she will find in it.(edited)
[6:28 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She begins examining the scroll closely
[6:29 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "um... uh... i can t-try to help..." She lays it on the ground and takes some quills and ink out of her pocket
[6:30 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "what h-happened to it...?"
[6:33 PM] Kwakamole: Although the shape itself is radically different, composed of actual ox leather from Dwabi, the writings on it are not very different from a Hoshidan Ox Spirit, albeit in the Khlinese dialect. Its overall craftsmanship is not particularly fine, despite its novelty.
[6:33 PM] Kwakamole: "...Sula-u did some...strange things with it. Healing curses and...casting, them."
[6:34 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "Oh my god what did you do to this why can nobody ever take care of these things right they're magic scrolls not heat blankets and stuff"
[6:34 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "Um... i th-think i can do th-this..."
[6:39 PM] Kwakamole: "..Truly?" Sula turned back to her, hardly believing that his half-hearted answer was enough. Regie really was an expert, it seemed.
[6:40 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "mhm..." She begins making small marks with her ink, messing with those already there.
[6:42 PM] Kwakamole: Resting his forehead in his palm, Sula can't help but watch her work. At his side, the Aishatu's other hand traces her additions in the air in an attempt to follow along.
[6:45 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She's not paying attention to him, and seems to zone out- her demeanor changes entirely, her motions becoming fluid and quick, rather well-practiced
[6:52 PM] Kwakamole: Watching her focused work brings Sula a twisted glimmer of hope. The thought of bringing a spirit into submission through artisanal grace and spiritual brutality was still strange to him...but perhaps it would be enough to make up for his own failures. A lingering chill tugs at him, and he leans back onto a stall gate. One of the horses nearby approaches, expecting some pets. He brings his hands down in front of him.
[6:54 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She begins... Whispering? She's whispering to the scroll for some reason
[7:00 PM] Kwakamole: Turning away from the horse, Sula raises an eyebrow. He kneels once more, flat-footed. Had he been wrong about sky-magic?
[7:00 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She continues for a while, then stops once she notices him "um... s-sorry..."
[7:01 PM] Kwakamole: "...you can hear the spirit?"
[7:02 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "s-sorry! i can stop!"
[7:06 PM] Kwakamole: "No, please, keep going!" Sula's palms fell to his sides, reaching the ground. "...It must be very important, to calming the spirit, yes?"(edited)
[7:09 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "u-um..." She blushes, pulling her hat down over her face "kind of..."
[7:15 PM] Kwakamole: "...I see. Could you...apologize, to O Muo, for me?" e looks out a window, into the dim sky. "..I have never spoken to it."
[7:16 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "just... try to t-take better care of it, th-these things are delicate..."
[7:22 PM] Kwakamole: Sula nods wordlessly to her.
[7:23 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She goes back to making edits, but seems more shaky now
[7:25 PM] Kwakamole: "...Forgive me." Sula rises, returning to Shimi, and opens up her saddlebag to search through some of his belongings...The young witch was not only fixing his scroll, but had likely saved his life only a few minutes ago. It was only right to repay her with something she might find value in.
[7:33 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She's not paying attention to what he does
[7:35 PM] Kwakamole: After taking a few things out, the Dwabi waits from afar until she is finished.
[7:42 PM] DiurnalKnight!: She does a few tiny finishing touches, then gently slides the scroll over. Then she goes back to hugging and petting Este
[7:46 PM] Kwakamole: "Thank you, Re-ji." He picks it up, unfurling it, and looks over the leather as he continues. "...Do you like to read?"
[7:46 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "w-why...?"
[7:49 PM] Kwakamole: Lowering the scroll for a moment, Sula places a collection of rare tomes on mythical beasts, particularly fliers. "Take whichever one you want...it's a gift."
[7:50 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "h-huh?!"
[7:51 PM] Kwakamole: "Truly, I, do not read them very much. It is no trouble at all." Avoiding eye contact, he smiles glibly to her. "Not compared to the joy you have brought to Este-i."(edited)
[8:05 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "u-um..." She is at a loss for words
[8:08 PM] Kwakamole: "Kindness, is a dish that feeds the chef as well." Sula extends a palm towards the books.
[8:14 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "th-thank you..." She holds her hat over her face again
[8:19 PM] Kwakamole: Sula's eyes seal themselves, as he recalls the Intetsu scribe's speeches. "There is a, collection, of Ice Tribe legends, if you like stories...Or the one about taming the Pegasus, it has rare truths..."
[8:22 PM] DiurnalKnight!: "um..." She carefully looks at them, then gets too embarrassed and just grabs a random one "thankyouihavetogonowbye!" She begins to flee
[8:29 PM] Kwakamole: "Kwemo, Re-ji!" Sula calls out melodically, bends over to pick up the rest of the books, and takes them back to Shimi. He spends a few moments resting with Este, hoping that the "Outlaw Bros" shared in the sudden providence that had been granted to him.(edited)
[8:31 PM] Kwakamole: ===END RP===
